Thursday
June 2

Thursday, 2nd June

Join our Town Crier Tim Hardy on his proclamation journey as he starts at 1:45pm at the top of the village (near the school car park) and rings his way down the lane, calling all to the centre of the village. At 2pm, Tim will read the official proclamation to the crowd.
We will then gather outside the Carpenter’s Arms where Major Tom Wills will give a Jubilee Toast to kick off the weekend.
The road from the biomass to the tree will be closed the rest of the day to enable us to have our street party. We’ll have a chance to have a bring-and-share Jubilee lunch together with our friends and neighbours. We hope to project the 1953 Coronation film on the pub, and we’ll have music, dancing (if the mood strikes!) and lots cheer the rest of the day. Come in fancy dress, vintage 1953 clothing, join with friends as a specific theme, or don your best red, white and blue party pieces- it’s up to you!
A special prize will be given for the best dressed- more details closer to the time.

That evening in the top field (just on the Miserden side of Lypiatt Farm) The Parish Council will treat the community to a late supper with a barbecue and ice cream social. We hope to have a performance in by a Morris Dancing troupe while we wait for the beacon lighting at precisely 9:45pm.

Don’t miss this special day!

Friday
June 3

Friday, 3rd June -Jubilee Jaunt &
Live Music at The Carp
Join us at the pub on Friday for a group walk around the parish, led by local walkers who know the paths and trails well.
Afterwards, we’ll all relax at the pub with refreshments, and
those who wish to linger will be treated by Kevin and Debbie to live music and merriment.
The pub will be serving their regular meals in the evening, so stay a while!
More details and a route map to follow.

Saturday
June 4

Saturday, 4th June – The Great Jubilee Bake-off
& Whiteway Family Fun Day
Spend the day in Whiteway with us at the Colony Playing field.
There will be something for everyone!

Entry into The Great Jubilee Bake-off is now open! This is a chance for everyone who loves baking to show off your baking skills.
Four classes of bakers:
Under 12 – The Under 12s are to make 6 or more identical cupcakes.*

Over 12 – The Over 12s are to make a classic Victoria Sandwich/Sponge. Judges will be looking for fresh fruit and piped cream decoration, but entrants are welcome to use whatever flavour jam they choose and may try their own take on the sponge flavours.
Jam may be store-bought.

Intermediates – The Intermediate class is for home bakers who know their way around a layer cake. This class must make a 3 or more layer cake. (They may make a Victoria Sponge if they wish, but it must be more than the classic 2 layer cake.)
Go for something classic, or something unusual- it’s up to you, however keep in mind points will be awarded for creativity!

Advanced – The Advanced class is for you home bakers out there who are up for a challenge! You have big ideas and you know how to make them– out of cake! Your entry must be suitable for a centrepiece and will make the crowds say, “Wow!”
Entries must include at least one layer cake (2 or more layers) or can be a tiered creation. Store-bought fondant icing is acceptable, however those who make their own from scratch will receive extra points!

Category theme for all classes: The Platinum Jubilee.
Please read all rules and then enter online by clicking here.

*Children under 12 are welcome to enter a higher class, but will be judged equally with those in that class (i.e., no special treatment because they are younger.)

Family races, games and fun activities will all be happening before we have a picnic lunch and get to taste some of the amazing cake creations from the Bake-off after the awards ceremony.

At 4pm, the Cricket Friendly will begin (12 overs). Teams will be formed closer to the time, but it will be a fun, friendly match and everyone is welcome to have a go.
We will have a barbecue after the match until the sun sets.

Cross your fingers for dry, warm weather– the pool might even be open!
